l am a type 1l have been on isulin for almost 14 years now. my periods have become out of wack. some months they are short and light. sometimesthey are normal. and like this month it has been almost 3 weeks long. could my uncontrolled bs. be doing this has always been uncontrolled. please help.

If u would have just started using insulin, l would have said yes to ur question. But since u have been taking it for many years, l do not think it is the insulin. However, it could very well be from ur BS not being in control. It could also be an issue with different hormones that u should see ur doctor about. Many women that r not diabetic, also have this problem. Usually taking birth control pills for awhile straightens things out. You need to control ur BS by watching ur diet & getting exercise. If left uncontrolled, high blood sugar can cause many extremely serious complications.

l had a problem with this briefly & my doctors told me that polycystic ovarian syndrome can develop from uncontrolled blood sugars, which means u slowly but surely can stop ovulating & become infertile, more importantly if u have had uncontrolled blood sugar levels for 14 years u could be doing could have done serious damage to ur kidneys, eyes, heart, & ur circulatory system, hopefully not but u really need to work harder at controlling ur diabetes, it will kill u after robbing u of some very important vital organs
