l am hypoglycemic and l test 2x a day. Well, last night l purchased an Ultra Mini to take to work with me and test there if l feel like my sugars are low. l calibrated my meter and l thought it was fine. Well this morning l tested and it was 111 (fasting), in 3 years l have never tested at 111. l am always between 60-80 on my Ultra2. Help!!
l know that 111 is not a bad number by any means, but l have not seen a number in the hundreds.

My Ultra2 is only 2 years old, and should not be at the end of it is life, and they both use the same test strips (that is why l bought it.)

Last night l at potatoe soup (11/2 cups), with a salad (rasberry vinegrette 1 tbsp)

For breakfast l had 1 serving of cherrios in skim milk, and a banana

There r some variations in both meters & test strips there can be as much as 20-30 points difference between meters.

We also need to investigate when, what, & how much u ate at ur last meal. Pastas & fibers (vegetables) can lengthen the time it takes for sugars to be digested. While ur overall reading is lower, the ''spike'' lasts longer.

And then there is the obvious -- do these two meters require different test strips, & did u use the correct strip in each one?

Suggestion: Run ''parallel'' tests for about two weeks. Do ur tests using BOTH meters, & keep a written record of the results. It may very well be that one meter is ''off'' compared to the other.

Meters DO age, & need to be replaced about every 5 years. Could be the Ultr2 is reaching the end of it is lifetime . . . . .

Not sure why you're having a problem since 111 is within the acceptable range for a glucose test reading.

Various factors can affect the blood glucose mesaurement. Perhaps something has changed that could affect the reading including something in the new glucose meter.

Maybe that will help.

For one thing, the foods you have eaten in your last meals are high in carbs. This will make your reading higher longer. Both are very good meters.
