l sometimes feel really fainty and dizzy and need sugar. l dont know if l am diabetic but my mum might not let me go to docs for tests. Also l get grumpy.

Based on what u said - No, u do not have diabetes.
Feeling faint & dizzy with a craving for sugar really is not too unusual. You may just be hungry or dehydrated. People get grumpy without a medical condition.
People who have undiagnosed diabetes r sick - ur mum would notice that u r not quite well. You'd be vomiting because ur blood sugar was high. You'd be peeing often & you'd pee a lot! You'd be waking up from sleep at night too pee.
If ur mum does not think u r sick, she is probably right. She sees u every day & would notice if something was wrong.

Your symptoms sound like HYPOGLYCEMIA -- the OPPOSITE of diabetes. But still a serious problem -- You could pass out, or even go into a coma.

Diabetes canNOT be diagnosed by symptoms alone. You MUST have blood tests done by a doctor.

The first test to take is called an A1C test. This is a quick, cheap, & accurate test that most doctors do in their office. if they can not, they will send a blood sample to a lab.

A NORMAL A1C reading is between 5 & 6. If the A1C test reads normal then u probably r NOT diabetic.

If the A1C test reads less than 5, u r probably Hypoglycemic -- too little blood sugar. The cure for this is very simple -- eat a better, more balanced diet. Do not skip meals. Hypoglycemia is very common in teenagers who THINK they r too fat, when in fact they r very very normal.

If the A1C is more than 7, then u might be diabetic. The doctor will want to do more tests to determine how bad u really are, & to tell him what medicines to use.

Both diabetes & hypoglycemia r very serious. You MUST see a doctor for diagnosis -- telling someone ur symptoms canNOT do it.

One little test, the A1C test, can tell u about all of these.

DIABETES mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder in which the body fails to convert sugars, starches & other foods into energy.

Sometimes, oral medication or insulin injections r also needed.
