found out type 2 and changed diet and started exercise and also started talking janument which is metformin and sigtaplin(sp)!

Any change in diet will effect that matter.

The most common side effects with metformin are nausea, vomiting, gas, bloating, diarrhea and loss of appetite. These symptoms occur in one out of every three patients. These side effects may be severe enough to cause therapy to be discontinued in one out of every 20 patients. These side effects are related to the dose of the medication and may decrease if the dose is reduced.

Well das, bloating and diarrhea are all related to bowel movement, the answer is surely yes.

l agree with Karen. Metformin does cause constipation, regardless off what the text books says.
Edit.Whoever gave the thumbs down does not have full knowledge of Metformin. l have spoken to my diabetes consultant about the problem and he agrees that Metformin CAN cause constipation in some people. Not everyone can tolerate these tablets and side effects vary from patient to patient.
