Okay, my blood sugar has been acting INSANE these two days.
and l got my period the day before yesterday...

can my blood sugar elevate this much just because I am on my period?

and why only this cycle (?!) because I am 17 and l did not notice it the other times..

my blood sugar was like 500 all day yesterday and even when l put in insulin it was like 550.l struggled all night and finally brought it down to 158.My mother thinks its my fault, and when l told her that l honestly did not know why my blood sugar was wack, she was like ''you should just die''

(so if this correlates with my period. please tell me. so l can explain to my mom... I've been diabetic (tpye 1) for 10 years)

Yeah l Get Where Your Coming From My Bloodsugars Get Suppa High When Im On My Cycle And Ive Been A Diabetic For 12 Years. And Its Not Your Fault So Dont Be Hard On Yourself. When Your On Your Period Just Check Your Bloodsugar More And Drink Tons Of Water Because That Can Also Bring Your BloodSugar Down

Hope l Helped [:

If she does *cough only get this on her *cough it should be fine 28 days is enough time to let her body heal from the last problem

Wow! You're mom sounds kinda harsh.. Being on ur period can DEFINITELY be playing a factor in the control of ur sugars. Your hormones go crazy during ur menstrual cycle, & for some girls, it makes them hard to keep up, for others they shoot up, & for still others, it has no effect. Everyone is different, & it may not happen everytime you're on ur period.

Personally, my sugars go NUTS during my period, sometimes l can not seem to bring them down, & at other times, l can not keep them above 100. It all depends on ur body chemistry.

Good luck, & if it gets too hard to handle, go see ur doc! He may be able to adjust ur medications for ur period! :)

First of all, ur mother needs to attend some diabetes classes with u (ask ur doc) so u can both understand that the pancreas is an extremely complicated gland, & with Type 1 u lose that critical regulatory function in the body. Have u heard of women who get full hysterectomies (ovary/uterus removal) & then have hormone problems the rest of their lives? It is like that, except there r many more components to factor in like stress, food & exercise. A few days before ur period, it is perfectly normal to have elevated BG is due to all the hormones u start secreting to start the menstruation process.you might have to give yourself extra when u see it start creeping up. Then the day ur period starts, it is normal for ur BG to plummet back down, just like u said. The reason u struggled to bring it down was that u were likely producing a large amount of ketones, which the body does when BG is & stress run high, & that makes it even harder to bring it down. Please show her this so she can start to understand that when ur BG is go nuts, it is usually not ''your fault''. This is experience talking!
