My boyfriend has type 2 diabetes and takes metformin. He has tingling and numbness of the pinky and ring fingers on his left hand. He goes to the doc on monday. It has been going on for about a week off and on, but it had gotten worst today. Is there something he can do to stop it, or make it not as bad?

the tingling is the circulation returning and leaving again.
warm water and constant movement will help keep his circulation going.
try going for a walk or something to get his blood pressure up.

That sounds like carpel tunnel to me. Has he been doing some new or unusual activites with his hands in the past week? Or maybe using the computer more than normal? l am thinking if it is as a result of his diabetes, it would not come on that suddenly.

I, too, am a type 2 diabetic as is my father. As of yet l have only had tingles every once in a while. My Dad has neuropathy in both his hands & feet which r common for people with diabetes. Tingles in ur hands & feet r common & l too have the ''pins & needles'' sensation in my middle, next & pinkie fingers on occasion. Make sure ur boyfriend tells his doctor about the feelings & if any he has had in his feet.
