Hypoglycemia question.

l have been diagnosed with insulin resistance hypoglycemia and l am trying to figure out what to do so l can sleep through the night. l can only eat small meals or it gets worse so l can not seem to eat enough at night to make it past 3:00 AM without waking up with an adrenaline surge from being too low.

Waking with an adrenaline surge at 3 am SUCKS! l have to eat and wait about 20-30 minutes before l can fall back asleep. l eat a beef and bean burrito right before bed as that seems to help me get the furthest time without a surge. I've tried just about everything. l tried complex carbs but they do not work. I've tried just pure protein and that does not work. I've tried a mix and nothing. The longest l get is about 5 hours and then l wake with a jolt.

Any ideas on what to eat that will take me thru the night? There has to be like a timed release thing that l could take, right?

l am so tired of waking up every single night. l have not slept thru the night in almost a year.

Try eating toast & butter right before u go to sleep. l have hypoglycemia & have had it for many years, & l find that taking in sugar & fat (toast is a 'starch' which turns to sugar fairly quickly in the body) late at night helps me to sleep at least 7 hours ( l rarely sleep 8 hours, though) . put some peanut butter onto a piece of oatmeal bread or 12 grain bread, then add butter & some sugar-free jam . u wo not be getting the 'sugar rush' but the fructose will give u just enough sugar to be able to fall asleep, & the toast, butter, & peanut butter will help u get through the whole night.

Treating hypoglycemia is fairly straightforward: eat or drink any food that has a lot of glucose & is easily absorbed. Sources of glucose include glucose tablets & gels that u can buy at ur pharmacy. Fruit juice & nonfat milk r also good sources. Foods with a lot of fat such as chocolate r not as good because the fat will delay the absorption of the glucose. Fructose does not raise the blood glucose, but most foods that have fructose, such as honey & fruits, also have a lot of glucose.
