type 1 yes it can type 2 no. Normally it is only guys that inherit it, but look out for yourself if ur worried
Alright so here is something from the VH l website
Type 2 diabetes is caused by a defect in the pancreas & a resistance by the body to the action of insulin. People with type 2 diabetes often have high blood sugar levels & high insulin levels initially but, in many cases, the pancreas fails completely with time. The most important factors leading to type 2 diabetes are: • A family history of diabetes (substantially increases risk of type 2 diabetes); • Being overweight; • Aged over 40; • A sedentary lifestyle; • Women who have previously had a large baby or have had diabetes in pregnancy (gestational diabetes) r at higher risk of developing diabetes in middle age.
People with type 2 diabetes r also at risk of developing high blood pressure, high cholesterol & high triglycerides, which puts them at increased risk of heart disease. Other possible complications include kidney, eye & nervous system disorders. Part of the routine care of diabetes involves regularly checking for symptoms of these complications.
A family history is a FACTOR in type 2 but if u do not have any of the others then u r unlikely to get it. Where as type one l know lots of people who've had it most of which have died because they did not take care of themselves properly & my grandfather died from heart problems relating to type 2 & l believe my other grandfather had it. Just keep healthy & u should be a lot less at risk. Here is the website is u want to read more http://vhi.ie/hfiles/hf-142.jsp
Well the main thing is only one person in ur family has type 2 that can really be called a family history. Anyway diabetes 1&2 is not always inherited a friend of mine found out in the past few years he has type 1 l think he was about 18 at the time & not a single other person in his family has any type of diabetes.
l am not telling u to brush it off & think that u will never get it what l am saying is eat healthy, avoid too much sugar & just be healthy & u will stand a better chance against it & other problems. Just keep an eye out for the symptoms

yes diabetes can be inherited. Type 2 usually occurs later in life, after the pancreas stops making insulin. Symptons include loss of feeling in the legs, continuous thirst and constantly needing the loo.

It is not a matter of inheriting it. We performed activities in previous lives which are now affording us the pleasures and pains we presently experience. None of my family in the past ever had diabetes, but l was. Worked hard on it and it is now gone. Took a few years. Take care. GOURANGA GOURANGA GOURANGA

You are at risk. You can help yourself by exercising and controlling your diet.Eliminate sugary drinks, anything white such as pasta, bread, sweets, potatoes.Use your Mothers test (glucose) kit and and see what your readings are.

Both type 1 & type 2 r inherited. Only an ingnorant snob will tell u type 2 is not inherited. Yes, there r other factors such as lifestyle that can bring type 2 on sooner, but it would be nonsence to assume that only lyfestyle brings on type 2. There r plenty of obese, stressed out men & women who will never get type 2 diabetes because it simply is not in their genetic code. There r also very thin, otherwise healthy men & women who will get type 2 diabetes simply because their genetics say that they will. Now a healthy lifestyle can delay the onset of type 2 diabetes, but probably can not stop it totally unless of course u die first. Live long enough & ur genetics always wins.

There is a chance that you will develop type 1, my hubby has it, his brother, their dad, his two brothers and just about every male in the family. My GP told me to check our son and daughter every month using their dads blood testing meter as they have an increased chance of developing it. Maybe you could ask your dad to check you every month.

Yes, you have a predisposition to diabetes. l would suggest that you exercise regularly, eat smart, work towards the ideal body weight, learn the signs and symptoms of diabetes and new onset diabetes, and work closely with your family physician to catch it as soon as possible. If you live a healthy lifestyle, you can keep it at bay for as long as possible.

Yes, it can be inherited. Since so many family members have it, you are at increased risk of getting it. It is a good idea to eat a healthy diet and to make sure you get 30 mins exercise per day. There are no guarantees that you can avoid it (or that you will get it), but if you do get it, it is very manageable these days.

back when l was 18 iwas diagnosed with type 1 the specialist dr alexander told me that diabetes is not inherited, l have no other members of my family who are not diabs, my 3 sons do not have it, diabetes is a dormant condition , there are literally millions of people out there who have it and do not know it, inherited is a no no, just coincidence.
