What happens if you have diabetes and you do not realize it?Will you pass out...be in pain?Assuming you can not go to the doctor to just get tested what would be a clue that you need insulin and have diabetes? I've always wondered...I am worried about my brother but he is the type who does not go to the doctor, So how could you tell if you were developing or have diabetes and what happens when you ignore it?

It depends which type he might have. If it is type I l (on set diabetes) he could be very tired, thirsty all the time and have to pee a lot but hardly anything comes out. He might be even hungrier than usual, dry skin, can not concentrate or think straight. Is he overweight? Does he eat a lot of junk food? If it is type l (juvenile diabetes) that is different. He should go to a doctor.

eventually you will figure out that you do not feel right, and then when you go to the doctor, he will figure it out. you will always be thirsty, and drinking wont take the thirst away. your skin will be itchy. you will have trouble sleeping, or you will be sleepy all the time. you could be starving all the time, or not hungry at all. the symptoms vary for each person. the only way to tell for sure, is with a blood test. then is the blood sugar is too high, you will know.

l am also the type who refuses to go to the doctor, l had milder symptoms of the disease for about 5 or 6 months b4 they became so unbearable l had to go in. If u ignore the symtoms when they get severe ur sugars can go so high u can develop ketones in ur blood which without going into great detail is a build up of acid & u can go into a coma & die from this. my dad developed this & he nearly froze to death, so if it goes untreated u can die but even putting off treatment is really bad for the eyes, kidneys, heart & can even lead to amputations due to circulation probs brought on by high blood sugars, so please urge him to just have a test u can get away with a fingerstick preliminarily but if he has symptoms it is urgent.

Question 1 & 2 - Eventually ur body will start to have major issues that can not be ignored - BUT THAT IN MOST CASES IS AFTER MAJOR ORGAN DAMAGE HAS ALREADY OCCURRED (Kidney Failure, Blindness, Gangrene of the toes, etc).
Question 3 - Some of the more common symptoms r - Low Blood Sugar (BS) - Hunger, Fatigue, Weakness, Sleepy, Confused, Loss of Concentration, Weight Loss. High BS - Thirst, Increased urination, Nausea & vomiting.
ALSO, not ALL Diabetics require Insulin, in many cases, Diabetes can be controlled with Diet & Exercise alone, some also need oral medication, & some Insulin.
If u think he might have Diabetes, u should take him to be tested. Most Hospitals have yearly Health Fairs where they will test for free, or almost free. You can also call ur Counties local Health Department & ask them for help, or call ur local American Diabetes Chapter. Also, many Hospitals have on staff Diabetic Nurses that do Community seminars & testing for free, so call their Nursing Administration office & ask for help.
Good Luck.

Go to your doctor and get tested. Some places offer free testing (link below) so there is no excuse to not get tested. Diabetes can be managed with a healthy diet but you have to know if you have it!
