Potassium is necessary for your heart to function properly. When you run low, you are in danger of cariac problems.

Diabetics do not retain potassium like a normal person. Potassium should be included in your diet. Salt substitute is potassium, Lite salt is half potassium and half salt. Use it in your food and you wo not have potassium related problems.

Rarely, but it is possible. It is also possible to get too much potassium. Most people need between 2,000 to 4,000 milligrams a day. As mentioned earlier, diabetics can have a problem maintaining potassium levels. It is my opinion that it is not so much due to the diabetes, but more to do with the oral meds we're given. Since increasing my potassium intake with bananas, apricots, tomatoes, spinach, etc, l no longer have to take the oral medication. My energy is higher, my blood sugar is lower, & l feel great. Since then, l strongly encourage people to eat a healthy natural foods based diet in order to get the nutrients that r essential for good health.
