Other than purchasing a meter, and the test strips, and doing a fasting test on yourself. This will be expensive too. It would be much better to just go to the doctor and let him do an A1C test on you.

You need to go to the doctor. There are blood tests that need to be done, not only to determine if you have diabetes, but to check for organ damage from the affects of diabetes. Diabetes is a serious disease and if you think you have it, you should see your doctor.

If you are really worried, see a dr. There are some strips that can read urine glucose over the counter, but I've never actually seen them being sold. They would not be completely accurate either.

Kristen B (answer above) is referring to Ketostix - you can get them OTC at a drugstore. But a true blood test would be more accurate. Your local health dept. may be able to do a screening for you.

Yes you can. But do not you have a friend that is diabetic. If so see if you can use their meter to test yourself. Otherwise you can buy a meter at any drug store.
