In case yes then is there any precaution to take? Also, is the method same as we use to check our glucose levels.

Usually in a child that age, the normal blood glucose levels are similar to adults.

Unfortunately, l do not know if the meter will work. Try calling your pharmacist or doctor and check it out.

l would say the levels should be in the same range for anybody.
The only precautions l think you have to take are:

1. Use a new lancet to do the test with.

2. Set the depth adjustment at it is lowest setting.

3. Make sure the child is hands are clean and make sure you test on the side of the finger.

You check the child just like an adult.

NORMAL levels r 80-120 (5-6 European). In children, jut a little higher is OK.

But u MUST consider how & when the measurement is made.
-->WHEN was the last time he ate?
-->WHAT did he eat?
-->HOW MUCH did he eat?

Blood sugars vary, almost by the minute. If he just ate, the reading will be high.

Taking one little finger stick test is NOT a good idea.

An alternative is to get the Urine Glucose Sample Strips from the pharmacy. Just press one into a wet diaper once a month. Painless for the kid, too.

If you're concerned about diabetes in ur child, have the DOCTOR perform the necessary tests so that there is no confusion & unnecessary panic.
