when do you worry about going into a diabetic coma?

Exercise may help lower the BS.

coma usually comes with low sugars, high sugars lead to misery, like nausea, organ damage, and other lovely things. If you are taking medications and your sugars are still runninng that high, you do not have the proper handle on your diet and how to control it. suggest you seek out a nutritionist or a diabetic educator and learn how to control your disease.or it will end your life.

If your sugar levels are that high and medication and your own diet/exercise are not helping, you should talk to your doctor ASAP - sugar levels above 300 are dangerously high. It may not send you into a coma, but it can cause damage to your organs and other diabetes complications.

If you're a type 1 u can take insulin to bring that sugar down. If you're a type 2, u need to realize that the disease progresses & the level of medication that has worked in the past may not always work for you. So it is time to go to the doctor & work on ur overall diabetes regimen because long-term sugars that high will have devastating consequences. It wo not throw u into a coma today, but it could lead to kidney failure, blindness, neuropathy, or worse.

Also, l have a friend who would start hallucinating when he was in the 400's, & he ended up crashing his car in that state. 300 is definitely something to worry about, not sweep under the rug.

A diabetic coma due to HIGH blood sugar usually takes weeks,

In fact, the coma is usually due to a condition known as ketoacidosis, which occur when the blood sugar has been high for weeks or even months. ketoacidosiscan be fatal, & needs hospitalization.

And while ketoacidosisis developing, the high blood sugar is running through ur body, damaging eyes & kidneys & intestines & nerves. High blood sugar & ketoacidosisis best to be avoided by working like hell to keep the blood sugar in the near-normal range!

Coma from LOW blood sugar is just as dangerous because it can occur instantly -- like when you;re driving.. If the blood sugar drops below 60 immediately medical treatment is needed. Fortunately, the treatment for low blood sugar is simple -- eat something sweet! but if the patient is unconscious, intravenous glucose application may be necessary, either in hospital or by an EMT.

(and listen 2 him) work together and get a plan that works for you. get control now and save yourself the the pain, stress & regret later.
